New research shows genetic changes were behind the kent meningitis outbreak

Meningitis Now CEO, Dr Tom Nutt, responds to new research showing genetic changes in the meningococcal bacteria that can cause meningitis were responsible for the severe outbreak in Kent. Dr Nutt says: "We cannot afford to wait for the next outbreak before taking action.”
The new findings highlight that similar meningitis outbreaks to the one in Kent could occur in the future.
