Airlines might be asked to reduce surge charges and extra fares if aviation fuel prices remain stable for an extended period. The Civil Aviation Minister stated the government is closely monitoring fuel costs and discussing sustainability of recent price drops with carriers. A Rs 10,000 crore price stabilization fund is also in place to support airlines during distress.
