‘India’s position on Indus Water Treaty is consistent’: MEA responds to Pakistan’s ‘threats’

India has reiterated that the Indus Water Treaty will remain in abeyance because of Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism. The Ministry of External Affairs responded after senior Pakistani leaders warned of serious consequences if India restricted water flows. Pakistan, however, maintains that the treaty remains legally binding and cannot be suspended unilaterally.
