JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha said Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will soon take on a larger role in the party and represents its future. A political resolution backing his expanded responsibilities was passed at the state council meeting. The national council also approved Nitish Kumar's re-election as JD(U) national president.
