Road widening has begun on the 730-metre stretch from Khajurwali Masjid to Ganesh Chowk in Ujjain ahead of Simhastha 2028. The project will widen the road to 15 metres and affect 272 buildings. Some residents began removing marked portions voluntarily on Saturday. Traders on another proposed widening route have sought a delay until after Diwali.
