World’s largest digital camera begins 10-year mission to map Universe at Rubin Observatory

The NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory has officially begun its 10-year Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), capturing the southern sky every 40 seconds with the world’s largest digital camera. The mission will help scientists study dark matter, dark energy, asteroids, supernovae and other cosmic phenomena by creating the most detailed time-lapse map of the Universe ever made.
